Tea Time in London | Photo Diary

At long last I was able to recover some photos from London and Paris earlier this year (pro tip:  always always always back up your computer when it reminds you to).  Although we spent most of our time in Paris, we decided to take a day trip to London for a quick change of scenery.  Our goal was to go from Paris to London and through the rabbit hole, for the Mad Hatter’s Afternoon Tea at the Philippe Starck designed Sanderson Hotel.

We arrived in the morning and decided to hit the shamelessly touristy spots before tea, since it was Soohee’s first time in London and only my second.  First stop: Buckingham Palace.  After that we braved the cold and took a walk through St. James Park and ended up checking out the Big Ben, the London Eye, and across the Tower Bridge.

Tea Time in London

Once we finished shopping from Bond Street to Oxford Circus, we headed back to Sanderson for our Mad Hatter’s Afternoon Tea.  There were so many places to choose from, but we liked that this one seemed more playful as opposed to some of the slightly stuffy, classic alternatives.  Look how cute it was!

Amongst the savory dishes were cornish crab and herb eclairs, smoked applewood croque-monsiuers, and the typical cucumber and cream cheese finger sandwiches.  The touch of Alice in Wonderland was more apparent with the sweets from the Queen of Hearts oreo cookie soldiers, to the Alice’s “drink me” potion, and the blue caterpillars.

I’ve never really been to London for more than two days at a time– what are the necessary attractions to see, off-the-beaten-track?  Share with me in the comments section below!
