Taste Test! Trying Japanese Snacks from 7-Eleven in Tokyo

“Gone for a minute, now I’m back again!”  Just returned from Japan, where I ate everything in sight.  Too jet lagged and starving on our second day to muster the energy to really go out, we ended up trying Japanese snacks for lunch instead.  Just two Americans trying Japanese snacks from a 7-Eleven convenience store in Tokyo! Think of it as a 7-Eleven Japanese snacks Mukbang. We tried some snacks

Chipotle Honey Chicken Recipe + $100 Food Delivery Giveaway!

It’s been a while since I’ve posted in my “Dine” category, hasn’t it?  I blame the rise of Postmates, but I just haven’t been inspired to walk the grocery store in search of ingredients for my next recipe.  Luckily, I just found out about this new food delivery service based in Los Angeles called Milk & Eggs and hit a stroke of inspiration.  Using all organic ingredients that were delivered straight

An Honest Review of Skinny Teatox

As far as ‘diet trends’ go, 100% natural tea detox plans are surely of the more sane variety.  The addition of tea into your diet has countless health benefits, even without the alluring promise of weight-loss.  Just in time for summer I was sent the 14-Day Skinny Teatox program and, being as tea obsessed as I am, I was curious.  Skinny Teatox is currently the #1 teatox in North America and

Itsy Bitsy: Ramen + Whisky | Downtown Las Vegas

It’s only fitting that after a long foodie hiatus my first post since Houston be about Las Vegas’ newest ramen shop, Itsy Bitsy: Ramen And Whisky.  Last week my friend Monique and I were invited to the Soft Opening of Itsy Bitsy in Downtown Las Vegas and we couldn’t wait to check it out.  Itsy Bitsy is unique in terms of ramen shops in that along with delicious Japanese cuisine, it also incorporates interesting art

Raw Super-Fruit Tropical Pitaya Bowl + Berry Lemon Pitaya Smoothie

If it seems like I’m chasing Summer with these next couples of recipes, it’s because I am.  I’ve had it with these grey Winter skies and I’m ready to sip pitaya smoothies by the pool.  In case you’re not familiar with it, Pitaya (aka Dragon Fruit) is a tropical, body cleansing super-fruit grown from Pitaya Cacti in Southeast Asia and Central America.  Raw pitaya fruit is naturally low in sugar, but

The Elvis | Fried Peanut Butter, Banana, Honey & Bacon Sandwich

Today marks what would have been Elvis Presley’s 80th birthday.  In homage to “The King of Rock & Roll,” here’s a recipe for his favorite deliciously indulgent fried peanut butter, banana, honey, and bacon sandwich.  Although there have been many variations over the years, most can agree that a classic Elvis includes generous amounts of butter, banana slices, and peanut butter sandwiched between two slices of white bread… then pan-fried.  The additions

Matcha Recipes | Green Tea Lattes + Green Tea Macarons with Green Tea Buttercream

Matcha (Green Tea) is one of my favorite flavors of lattes, ice cream, macarons, and Kit Kats… but until recently I had never attempted to cook with it at home, not realizing how easy it is.  During the Holidays I love to bake treats for my friends so I’ve partnered with Kiss Me Organics to bring you a recipe for Matcha Green Tea Macarons with a Matcha Green Tea Buttercream

Salmon Musubi, Shoyu Hot Dog, and Rolled Omelet [Spooky Halloween Edition]

I don’t generally get too festive around the holidays as far as decorating is concerned, but I’ll take any excuse to get creative in the kitchen.  This Halloween I made “Spooky” Salmon Musubi (aka Salmon Onigiri), “Severed Finger” Shoyu Hot Dogs on a bed of Bean Sprout “Worms,” and a side of Rolled Omelet (aka Tamagoyaki) “Brains.”  I usually gravitate towards desserts in the later months but I felt like this

District 7 Grill Midtown | Houston, Texas

Mealtime indecision is at an all time high for me when I’m out-of-town.  I knew that Whataburger, Tex-Mex, and Texas BBQ wouldn’t quite hit the spot for Sunday Brunch last week in Houston so we turned to Yelp for suggestions.  I think it was the photo of the Foie Gras Smoked Jam Bruschetta that sealed the deal for District 7 Grill- Midtown… or maybe it was the promise of ceviche.

Local Style Beef Stew

I was in the mood for a little bit of “Hawaiian Style” comfort food this week so I dug out some recipes I had for local style beef stew.  What makes it “local style” is something I can’t exactly pinpoint, maybe its the addition of Hawaiian salt or the lack of noodles, but either way its a food that distinctly reminds me of home.  Although this recipe takes about 3
