Neoprene & Mansur Gavriel
It seems like the rest of the country is already transitioning into Fall, with trench coats sneaking up around every corner. Even at NYFW people are walking around in heavily layered looks, in full denial of the heat. Las Vegas is stuck at a cool 99*f and I’ve sadly come to terms with it. Leather jackets and knee high boots will remain the things dreams of made of… for now. Thats where the Triangl Swimwear ‘Twiggy Stardust’ comes in; the matte black bikini made of wetsuit neoprene. Paired with the Mansur Gavriel backpack that I finally tracked down in New York and I’ve got a leather-look perfectly suitable for the warmest days of late Summer. Fresh coconuts by the pool, anyone?

Months had passed with the Mansur Gavriel line sold out in both online shops and department stores in Vegas alike. I can’t remember the last time a bag so reasonably priced (I don’t think any of their products are over $1000) was this hard to get your hands on. Mansur Gavriel is a relatively new brand, based out of New York and crafted in Italy. The totes and bucket bags in supple calf leathers and sturdy vegetable leathers had turned into quick classics with the backpack being the latest addition to the line. The backpack is of simplistic design, void of any hardware or monogram, but has this pop of red that makes it interesting to look at. I had envisioned their quintessential tan bucket bag in my near future, until I found that that Spring 2015 will bring with it a new snap-closured envelope clutch for the brand. I’m weirdly really excited about envelope clutches in general.
I had also been eyeing this option by The Row, but spending that much on a backpack seems ridiculous. A backpack, which despite being much more convenient than any other trendy it-bag I lust after, can’t help but remind me of trekking around town after Middle School. I think that kind of implied innocence is what makes it the so called “anti-it it bag” of the moment. Its so simple and unassuming… dare I say it, plain.
As for the bikini… the Triangl website has a 24/hr live chat, so you can ask about sizing or shipping and receive answers immediately. I would recommend ordering a size up for all non-tie, standard bottoms. The set is great together, but if you prefer a cheeky bottom like I do then you may find yourself getting more use out of the top. The sets run at around $80 before DHL shipping, much less expensive than a set from Mikoh or Zimmerman, so its not hugely wasteful to put the bottoms aside and only make use of the top.
The fresh coconut water was a huge hit with my siamese cat, Mila. I don’t have a cleaver at home for opening coconuts, but if you ask an employee at the market they’ll usually be willing to help– just wrap them well with foil and be careful when you’re driving home. Instant ramen + fresh coconut = the ultimate hangover cure for Fall ’14, you heard it here first.
I purchased the smaller size of the backpack. It’s definitely big enough for your essentials: lip gloss, wallet, polaroid camera, digital camera, and powder compact. It is not, however, big enough for your pet cat. The larger size is nice as well but maybe better suited for someone a little taller than me.

This last shot looks reminiscent of what could be an outtake of a Kitty Mila for Terry Richardson shoot (minus the nipples and the plaid).
