How to Highlight for Day & Night

Beyond skincare, a glowing highlight is one of the most important factors in my beauty routine.  While browsing Into The Gloss yesterday, I came across this great video in which makeup artist Vincent Oquendo teaches how to achieve the perfect highlight for both day and night.  Using the Tom Ford Illuminating Highlight Pen and Tom Ford Shade & Illuminate, Oquendo creates a glow from within that is easily recreated at home.

Although it’s a little difficult to see the highlight on the models fair skin, I really do stand by Vincent Oquendo’s technique.  After first refreshing the face with your favorite skincare serum, conceal blemishes and under eye circles with a concealer lighter than your natural skintone.  Using the Tom Ford Illuminating Highlight Pen, trace the cheek bones, brow bone, bridge of the nose, bow of the lips, and chin.  Melt the highlight into the skin using your fingers and, to intensify the highlight for a nighttime look, reach for the Tom Ford Shade & Illuminate palette.  Pat the “Illuminate” portion over the areas covered with the Highlight Pen and add some to the eyelids for extra oomph.

Also Used: Chanel Concealer, ReVive Skincare Serum

Other Pen Highlighters I Love: Smashbox Halo Highlighting Pen, MAC Prep + Prime Highlighting Pen
